How to Collect Kief from Cannabis<\/h2>\n

Kief describes a collection of pure trichomes which are little THC filled stalks that reside on the flowering buds of cannabis. Many consider Kief a concentrate for it\u2019s large THC content relative to cannabis flower. Most tokers are used to one method of collecting kief, but there are actually many.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Traditional Grinding<\/h3>\n

The most common form of kief collection is as a byproduct of grinding flower. Grinders are generally layered in two or three pieces. However many others have four or even five layered pieces. The fourth layer is called the \u201cKief Catcher\u201d and is where the kief is collected after grinding (hence the name).<\/span><\/p>\n

Sift Box<\/h3>\n

A sift box (also known as a kief box) is generally constructed from a wooden frame with a mesh screen stretched over it. Bud is placed on top of the screen and is then vigorously shaken to knock kief below. This method can be great for collecting large amounts of kief however it does require some form of physical exertion or external motor.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kief Tumbler<\/h3>\n

The easiest way to collect large amounts of kief is by using a kief tumbler. It has the capabilities of the sift box but without the physical labor. It\u2019s as simple as putting cannabis flower into the tumbler, turning on the machine, and waiting. These tumblers are usually stainless steel and designed for years of use.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hand Collected<\/h3>\n

The oldest and least expensive form of kief collecting is literally separating bud with your hands. Modern methods use latex gloves, but the process is the same. Get bud in between your hands and separate the flower over a table. The trichomes should start to stick onto the gloves or\u00a0 fall onto the table’s surface. You can then collect the kief with static electricity via CD cases or even balloons.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
