What is a Concentrate?
Concentrate?
The word “concentrate” is thrown around often within the recreational cannabis scene and is growing quickly in popularity. There is even an entire section on dispensary menus dedicated to them, but what are they and how are they used? A cannabis concentrate is cannabis flower that is processed into a heavily reduced form made up of mostly psychoactive ingredients like THC and CBD.
Strength
While cannabis buds can test anywhere from 5%-35% THC, a cannabis concentrate will generally test between 55%-99% THC. This will produce a much stronger effect with far less material. Many concentrates (depending on extraction method) will also have high levels of other beneficial terpenes and cannabinoids which we have talked about in previous articles. It is suggested when using a concentrate for the first time to start small to better understand how you will react.
How do I use it?
There are many ways to smoke a cannabis concentrate, and due to the almost endless list of different types (Check out our concentrate menu!) what you are supposed to do with it after purchasing can be confusing. Many users find it easiest to use a vaporizer cartridge and battery for their daily concentrate use. This will be the easiest, least involved, and most discrete way to enjoy. Others choose to “Dab” their products; this involves heating a small glass or metal element (generally a “banger” or “nail”) and touching your concentrate material to it while inhaling through a bong or reclaimer.
